However, for many players, one of the more enticing aspects toSeason 14 is the new Transmog system. While fans have been divided over the way Bungie has monetized this long requested system, this season does offer a few bonuses for checking it out. Unlike many other games, this Armor Synthesis system can get a little involved, featuring numerous steps and resources that need to be acquired prior to unlocking new universal ornaments.

Earning Synthweave

As mentioned above, theArmor Synthesis process can get pretty involved. As such, players won’t be able to easily acquire Synthweave without using real money to purchase some from the Eververse Store.

For players who want to go the free route, they’ll first need to track down the base component called Synthstrand. Thankfully, this is the easy part as simply killing enemies has a chance to drop this new resource. For every 150 synthstrands collected, players can take them back to the Tower where Ada-1 has again taken up residence, and traded with her to acquire class-specific bounties. These tend to be fairly straight forward and typically has players doing common tasks like capturing points in a Control match in the Crucible, completing Vanguard strikes, banking motes in Gambit, or completing a task from other core activities in the game.

Completing these bounties awards the next tier resource called Synthcord, which can beput into the Loom near Ada-1 and converted into Synthweave.

Working With The Loom With how rare and important Synthweave is, there are a few things players should be aware of as it is possible to waste the resource accidentally. After adding the Synthcord, players havefour different types of Synthweave available to be made, with two of them likely not nearly as important.

It is possible to create Synthweave for the wrong class in which case the player won’t be able to use the gear and will need to start the collection process over again. It’s highly advised that players be careful when making their selection.

Creating Ornaments from Synthweave

With the Synthweave in hand, players can utilize it by going to the brand new appearance menu from the character screen. SelectAppearance Customization in the top right to see all potential ornament optionsfor any armor piece. Ones marked with a lock icon represent ornaments the player does not have yet, which the player can spend the Synthweave on to unlock. Doing so makes the ornament available to apply if desired.
