When it comes to online co-operative horror titles,Dead by Daylightis many people’s go-to choice, especially among the streaming community. It’s a very suitableco-op game to play with friends especially over Halloween, though its popularity is not concentrated over one particular season of the year. One of the reasons behind the success of Behavior Interactive’s IP is its inclusion of many famous villains and characters from already beloved franchises, includingResident Evil,Halloween, andHellraiser. Now word is traveling that another movie monster is being added to the game that comes straight from Japanese horror.
In a video uploaded to the officialDead by DaylightYouTube channel recently, it looks like Sadako Yamamura from theRingufilms will be making an appearance in the survival game. Sadako is, for those who have not seen either the original Japanese or American adaptations of Kōji Suzuki’s 1991 novel, the creepy girl with the long black hair who stalks and kills those who watch a peculiar VHS tape.

Although theoriginal 1998Ringufilm is somewhat underrated, at least to Western audiences, it’s reimagining asThe Ringin 2002 to better suit American film goers made it an instant success. This recentDead by Daylighttrailer is only short but shows the instantly recognizable gloomy wishing well that forms a large part of the film’s symbolism, and ends with the date March 2022, with it being launched along with the next chapter of the game, called “The Fog.”
As well as famous monsters and villains, Behavior Interactive’s title also has its own roster of unique antagonists and protagonists. Recently,Dead by Daylight’s “Portrait of a Murder” chapterwas released, bringing with it new original killer, The Artist, and survivor, Jonah Vasquez. In terms of the next chapter, not much is known about what Sadako will be capable of in terms of her powers, but it’s probably a given that the infamous well that she often emerges from will play a part in it.
WhileDead by Daylightis still going strong in terms of its popularity, there have been a number of controversies surrounding the studio.Behavior Interactive was criticized not long ago over its involvement with NFTs, with the developer insisting that it would not be selling the contentious digital currency. However, fans were quick to point out that while the studio itself did not sell NFTs, it was partnered with a firm which did so, making the response seem somewhat disingenuous.
