Greirat is the resident thief of Firelink Shrine inDark Souls 3that players can purchase some pretty great items from. He periodically makes his rounds across different locations in the game to get more items worth selling. This character’s questline is one of the easiest to get through and requires minimal effort after he is freed from his cell in the High Wall of Lothric.

He resides near Andre the Blacksmith when he arrives in Firelink Shrine. Keep in mind that part of his questline intertwines with another NPC, Patches. Players should make sure to get Patches in Firelink Shrine to complete Greirat’s quest inDark Souls 3.
Rescue Greirat
Greirat is locked in a cell in theHigh Wallof Lothric and must be rescued before he will go to Firelink Shrine. Travel to the Tower on the Wall bonfire and go to the bottom floor. There is a doorway here that leads to a room filled with explosive barrels. Go through this room, turn right and head down the staircase.
Greirat will be in the cell waiting. To get the key for his cell, progress through the level and get past the spear-wielding Lothric Knight. Further along, players will find a room filled with explosive barrels that are guarded by multiple ax-wielding Hollows. The key rests at the bottom of a hidden staircase on the far end of the room. After freeing Greirat, accept his offer and he will go to Firelink.
Find Loretta’s Bone
Greirat will first task players with finding Loretta and giving her the Blue Tearstone Ring. Head to the Undead Settlement and enter the dark house. On the balcony of the house, players will notice a hanging body with an item on it.

Knock the body down by hitting it or rolling into it and go down and retrieve the item. The item on this corpse is Loretta’s Bone. Give it to Greirat and he will begin grieving. Leave Firelink Shrine and return a few times until Greirat isn’t curled up anymore.
After Greirat is done mourning Loretta’s death, he will be ready to head out into the world and scavenge for items. Talk to him in Firelink Shrine and he will head out to theUndead Settlement. Defeat the Curse-Rotted Greatwood and return to Firelink Shrine. Grierat should be there after the boss is defeated.
Send Greirat Out (Irithyll Dungeon)
Greirat will be able to be sent out again after players cross the bridge between the Catacombs of Carthus and Irithyll of the Boreal Valley.

Greirat will ultimately end up dying when he goes out this time unless players are either following Siegward’s questline or tell Patches of his location. If Greirat isn’t saved, his ashes will be found in the sewer under the kitchen in Irithyll.
Send Greirat Out (Lothric Castle)
Greirat will request that players send him out for a third scavenging mission. This third outing will ultimately result in Greirat’s death. This is unavoidable and the end of his questline. Greirat’s ashes can be found on the roof of the Grand Archives wherethe group of Corviansis. Giving his ashes to the Shrine Handmaiden will give her his entire inventory plus a few extra items.
