Ever since the remaster was announced back in April, fans have been wondering how on earthCrysis Remasteredwill run on the Nintendo Switch. Notorious for its series of shakey ports, Nintendo’s handheld console has garnered an influx of terrible re-releases over the last few years, including the likes ofWWE 2K18, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, andThe Outer Worlds.

However, a new half an hour stream held by Crytek seems to hint thatCrysis Remasteredwon’t be added to that list, with the game seemingly running pretty well on the Switch. During the stream, two of the devs behind the game revealed much more about the title’s specifications as well as showing off a meaty helping of the title running on the console.

According to the devs, the game will be running at 720p - 900p docked, while, in handheld, it’ll be hitting somewhere between 540p - 720p. This will supposedly be thanks to dynamic resolution, which will enhance the game’s resolution depending on how demanding the game’s on-screen action is at any given time. According to the pair, it was difficult to port theCrysisexperience over to the handheld console, but it is allegedly stable, and the streamed gameplay definitely supports that claim. Not only does the gameplay seem to look fairly accurate to the original game visually, but it also maintains astrong frame ratefor the entire stream.

This is even more impressive when factoring in all the additions made to the original in the remaster. According to Crytek, the game sports improved textures and assets as well as adding fresh lighting settings. That being said, the pair did reveal that while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be sporting software-basedray tracing, the Nintendo Switch version of the title will not. It’s a small price to pay for a portable version ofCrysisthat fans can play during their daily commute or on their lunch break.

Of course, this remaster ofCrysishas seen a lot of controversy amongst fans, with the player base criticizing the title so heavily last month that its PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC ports were delayed so the team could work on them further. Hopefully, the game will meet the expectations of franchise veterans when it releases on the Switch in the next few days.

Crysis Remasteredreleases on July 23 for the Nintendo Switch, with the other versions launching at an unknown date.
