While it has more differences than similarities when it comes to Pokemon, the quality of the characters and the world sparks the imagination in a similar way. Pairing Pokemon with fictional characters is a long-time internet past time, after all. Which Pokemon are most suited to each of these characters? 5Denji (Corviknight)
When it comes to Denji, several Pokemon come to mind. Which steel-type Pokemon should the chainsaw devil be? Among contenders were Lucario, Excadrill, Empoleon, Doublade, and Alolan Sandslash. For several reasons, however, Corviknight stands out among the rest. There is, of course, the steel element, which can’t be ignored, but there’s also the fact that Corviknight is a service Pokemon.

Like Corviknight, Denji acts primarily under the service of someone else. First, to his father’s debt collectors, and then to Makima and the Public Safety Bureau.Especiallyto Makima, Whether Corviknight has dreams of its own is unknown - but it’s also the strongest bird Pokemon in the Galar region, just as Denji grows to become the strongest devil in Japan with the help of Pochita.
4Pochita (Excadrill)
While Pochita only really stays on screen for episode one ofChainsaw Man,there’s no doubt that he can be considered a main character. He begins the show as Denji’s pet chainsaw devil, valiantly serving the only human that has ever shown him kindness. When Denji gets into a scrape that ends in his death, Pochita sacrifices his canine form to merge with Denji, hoping that Denji can finally have the normal life he always dreamed of.
The similarities between Pochita and Excadrill are, to be honest, quite surface level. It’s difficult for a Pokemon to capture the exact spirit of Pochita, because he’s sucha unique and interesting mascot. Nevertheless, he aligns well with Excadrill, who also sports a household tool atop its head!
3Makima (Mew)
Makima and Mew are self-explanatory partners. Fans of the anime are sure to have picked up on Makima’s dark side, and manga readers will know that Makima is the control devil herself. It makes sense, then, that Makima’s ideal Pokemon Partner would be a psychic type. Some contenders were Meowstic, Metagross, Hypno, Gardevoir,even Mewtwo, but Mew just makes the most sense.

Mews intelligence and ability to learn nearly every single move in the catalog is a great foil for Makima’s control devil powers, that allow her to use the powers of others. The variety of psychic-type moves Mew works best with are alsofantastically suited to Makima. And, as Mew is one of the strongest Pokemon in history, it makes sense to pair it with a partner that also exhibits overwhelming power. Plus, they’re both pink.
2Power (Meowth)
Power and Meowth also have perfect synergy. It’s hard to ignore Powers love of cats - at least her own. While Power is largely a selfish loudmouth with a thirst for blood, she found her ability to care for others when she rescued a cat. She initially intended to fatten it up to eat it, but soon became protective enough of it to risk her (and Denji’s) life to get it back from the bat devil.
In terms of personality, Power and Meowth are a great match.Meowth is one of the few Pokemon that can talkin the Pokemon anime, so there’s a lot of opportunity to get to know its personality. Being a part of Team Rocket, Meowth is known to be conniving, prideful, greedy, and mischievous - a lot of adjectives that can be used to describe Power as well.
1Aki (Eevee)
At first glance, Aki and Eevee don’t seem to have much in common. However, the two fan-favorites are very similar. Aki is another character looking to lead a fairly normal life, and he’s one of the few main characters that isn’t a devil himself. He also seemsthe most down to earthand grounded of theChainsaw Mancharacters. So, a normal type Pokemon makes sense for him, as he doesn’t have any powers of his own.
That’s not to say, however, that he doesn’t have powers. What makes these two such a good match is that Aki has several contracts with devils, allowing him to access powers that aren’t his own. This makes him as versatile as Eevee, who can evolve into many different types of Pokemon. His disposition towards making contracts with devils aligns really well with Eevee’s branching evolution tree.
