Summary
The weapon sandbox inCall of Duty: Warzoneis fluid season to season thanks to various buffs and nerfs that come with them, and one SMG is standing head-and-shoulders above the rest after the Season 6 update.Season 6 ofWarzonelooks to be the final season before the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with plenty of new weapon blueprints for players to earn. However, it appears the weapon which is benefiting the most is an SMG players have been able to unlock since the launch ofModern Warfare 2in November 2022.
Front-and-center in Season 6 ofCall of Duty: Warzoneis the addition of Al Simmons, better known as Spawn, as the centerpiece operator available to unlock in the season’s battle pass. The SMG which appears to benefiting the most after the seasonal update, though, is the BAS-P, a weapon available sinceModern Warfare 2’s release which has caught the eye of many players since the new season began.Warzoneplayer and content creatorJGOD is one such player singing the BAS-P’s praises for Season 6, saying the weapon has become a monster and easy go-to for short-range engagements. He pointed to the buff to neck, limb, and torso damage multipliers as the reason for this as it has a time-to-kill of 598 milliseconds per second.
Previously, theLachmann Subhad been seen as the undisputed king of SMGs insideWarzonedue to its high-damage output at short-ranges. Players speculated heading into Season 6 that the weapon could find itself victim to a nerf due to how dominant it had been in the weapon sandbox, especially during Season 5. However, Infinity Ward instead chose to leave the weapon as it was and buff five other SMGs, one of them being the BAS-P, to offer alternatives to the Lachmann Sub.
The question now becomes if there will be more shakeups to the weapon sandbox after the release ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3on July 16, 2025. It marks the first time sinceWarzonelaunched that there won’t be a seasonal reset with the release of a newCall of Dutytitle due, in part, toModern Warfare 3being a direct sequel to 2022’sModern Warfare 2. That said, players can argue the game’s release will bring its own weapon updates with it, which could further change toWarzone’s SMG meta.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
