Call of Duty: Modern Warfarelaunched with the expectation of being a realistic depiction of war. Fans were given beautiful graphics, detailed guns, and intense battles, but the game modes seemed to lack the realistic difficulty that was expected.

There are tons of different modes inCall of Duty: Modern Warfaregiving players a variety of experiences to choose from. The most realistic of these modes is currently realism mode, but one fan thinks that the developers could make it even more real.

Reddit user Krevin from heaven posted their idea for a realism rework inModern Warfarethat would make it more lethal and realistic.Headshots would become instant kills, and all body shots would be lethal after two or three hits. Getting hit in the arms and legs will not kill but rather impair the player’s movement. Downed players can defend themselves with a pistol with one magazine and can be helped up by allies. Tactical sprinting is disabled, and all movement is slower, resulting in a more realistic approach to tactical combat.

The goal of the changes is to make the game meet a more realistic standard. AfterModern Warfarewent through a graphical downgrade, fans started to doubt its dedication to realistic combat. The game quickly has become more cartoonish, brightening objects and looking closer toBlack Ops 4then aModern Warfaretitle.

Krevin’s suggestions would add a more detailed twist to the already lethal realism mode. Slowing down sprinting, walking, crouching, and crawling makes this less of a game and more of a war simulation. Although there are sure to bebalance changes in Season 4, nothing will be as strong as these recommendations.

These ideas are not a bad thought, but they do take some of the fun out of the arcade-style thatCall of Dutyhas developed over the years. The idea of respawning indefinitely while rushing into the enemy fire has a glory of its own. Funny tricks, like theC4 and Drone trick, are part of the non-realistic side of this game. Although there is an appeal to a more realistic realism mode, the developers have to balance that with the fun factor of the overall game.

As fans enter Season 4 and look forward toCall of Duty2020, only time will tell if the games become more realistic or maintain their arcade-style. The community remains split as to which is better, resulting in a unique problem for Activision to solve.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
