The officialCall of Dutyblog site has detailed two brand new six-on-six maps that will debut in Season 5. One is named “Punta Mar” and is described as a former beachside tourist destination is Las Almas, Mexico. Reportedly, most of the gameplay will take place on the streets and rooftops, and there will be plenty of opportunities to camp out inside shop windows for stealth attacks. The second map is simply called “Strike” and is located in Urzikstan, a fictional region of Western Asia. Described as a “sprawling urban center,” the map emphasizes exploring within the various buildings and encourages players to check high and low to hunt each other down. Clearly, both of these maps are built around sneakiness and creative maneuvers, but only time will tell if this leads to anynotable amounts of cheating amongModern Warfare 2players.

Similarly topreviously addedModern Warfare 2maps, both announcement pages came with extensive guides, detailing the two spawn points of each map alongside the multiple sections (five for Punta Mar, seven for Strike) and several gameplay tips to help players navigate and survive these new layouts. It should be cool to see how these new locales will fare in 6v6 multiplayer, and what exciting new exploits players might discover during their many hectic romps on these maps.

Without a doubt,Modern Warfare 2has taken theCall of Dutyfranchise to bizarre new heights in just one year since it first dropped, and Season 5 is looking to keep the randomness coming, with even additions such asskins based on real-life rappers. Thankfully, it seems Activision intends to keep adding more grounded maps such as these to match the themes of the base game, just to ensure players who don’t care for the novelty and celebrity tie-ins can still find some post-release enjoyment. Nonetheless, it should be interesting to see whereModern Warfare 2’s DLC goes after Season 5 drops in early August.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
