It has only been a week since Rebirth Island was introduced toCall of Duty: Warzone, and information regarding the game’s next map seems to have already leaked. The information comes fromCall of Dutyinsider named ModernWarzone, who suggests thatWarzone’s next map will be set in the Ural Mountains of Russia.
The addition ofRebirth Island has changedWarzone’s gameplay, as the new map shrinks the maximum amount of players per match to 40, as opposed to Verdansk’s 150. Perhaps that is why theCall of Dutydevelopers are potentially working on a new, full-sized map that is rumored to release in early 2021. No information on the upcoming map has been revealed until now, if ModernWarzone’s leak is to be believed.

ModernWarzone took to Twitterto post a screenshot of a crude map with the names of several locations written out. Some of these sections also include a screenshot of how the area will look in-game. They include ski slopes, a sanatorium, and even a zoo. ModernWarzone said the new information is based on their last six months of reporting, and added that the evidence points to the new map being located in the Ural Mountains.
The real-life Ural Mountains are a mountain range that run from north to south through western Russia. In theCall of Dutyuniverse, the mountains are the location of a Soviet nuclear bunker in Mount Yamantau, seen in the originalBlack Opscampaign andin the recentBlack Ops Cold War. However, there is no indication that the bunker is located on ModernWarzone’s leaked map.
If the leak is authentic, it opens up new possibilities forWarzone. Perhaps one of the most interesting implications is what the inclusion of a zoo on the map could mean. There have never been animals on aCall of Dutymap, unless you countTomogunchi pets, but a zoo seems to hint that there is at least a slight possibility that animals may exist on the new map, perhaps to prey on unsuspecting players. The Sanatorium screenshot also reveals a waterfront, and the map appears to have a lake, suggesting that there may be pilotable boats.
Of course, none of the new information has been verified, so ModernWarzone’s leak should be taken with a grain of salt. Even if ModernWarzone is right, what was included in the leak could potentially be changed before the final map is officially revealed. Until then,Warzoneplayers who would like to keep playing on a large open mapcan still play on Verdansk.
