Boruto: Naruto Next Generationsis finally picking up the pace and getting more interesting. The previous chapter was, quite possibly, one of the greatest that the fans have read in quite a while. Not only did it build up the conflict towards the timeskip of the story, but it also gave great moments to both Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, two characters who have barely seen attention in theBorutomanga.

At the same time,Boruto Uzumaki also lost his eyein the previous chapter andKawaki has finally vanishedfrom the village. All of this points towards the obvious and that is the story hurtling towards what fans saw in the prologue of the manga. As confirmed by Momoshiki, things have already been set into motion that cannot be undone anymore. As such, all eyes are onBorutochapter 79.
Boruto Chapter 79: Konoha Begins Its Planning
Borutochapter 79 willmost likely focus on Konohaand how they shore up their defenses following the great catastrophe that just struck them. Their Hokage was just abducted along with his wife and the man who brought the calamity on them has now vanished for good. As such, Konoha is ripe for the taking at the moment, as it has lost a major source of power that it once possessed. Konoha will certainly need to shore up their defenses and, at the same time, look for Kawaki, the man who can solve this problem all by himself. That said,Kawaki is most certainly not going to be easily found.
After all, he has been given a golden opportunity by Momoshiki and he isn’t going to waste it. To get to what he wants, Kawaki will likely attempt to get stronger and return with his wrath greater than ever before. That is most likely where the series is building towards right now. At the same time,Borutochapter 79 might reveal that it was not Momoshiki who let him escape, but Boruto himself. Sasuke noted something weird about Momoshiki awakening this particular time and, while the general consensus is that it was Momoshiki who gave Kawaki the opportunity to escape, the opposite could also be equally true. Boruto cares deeply about his brother and, as such, would not hesitate in saving his life when he thought Kawaki could easily have met his end.
Boruto Chapter 79: Sasuke As The Hokage?
Naruto Uzumaki is most likely not going to be rescued anytime soon. This has already been established, thanks to the prologue of the series where Kawaki claims that Naruto is sealed away in the same location. Fans also know that years pass before Boruto and Kawaki take part in that clash atop the Hokage Faces, surrounded by a Konoha that is utterly destroyed,and the age of Shinobiis declared to be over. As such, for these years, Konoha cannot stay without a Hokage. This means that someone has to step up and take that role.

This was proved to the fans shortly after Pain’s invasion, where, when Tsunade fell into a coma, the village moved quickly to assign Danzo as the next Hokage and when he died, Kakashi was quickly chosen to be his successor. As such, it can be inferred that they will be looking for an interim Hokage very soon. Sarada is one character that fans know would love to take this position, however, it is a fact that she is way too young and inexperienced to attain a position of such importance. Other characters that come to mind are Shikamaru, Sakura, and, of course, Sasuke. Given that Shikamaru is better as an advisor, it is likely that one of either Sakura or Sasuke will be chosen as the new Hokage and, more likely than not, it is going to be the latter.
Boruto Chapter 79: The Timeskip Approaches
With the dust settling on the events that just transpired, it is time for the story to edge closer to its timeskip. The very first chapter ofBorutoteased events from after the timeskip to the fans and, it has been a slow journey to this point. However, finally, fans are very close to it now. Boruto has already lost an eye and his headband has already been scratched by Kawaki. All of Team 7 already have an incentive to grow stronger, as does Kawaki himself.
Naruto Uzumaki has been sealed away, along with his wife, and all the prerequisites for the timeskip have now fully been met. This means that the timeskip is just around the corner and Boruto chapter 79 could be building up towards it. Soon, all the members of Team 7 and even Kawaki will set off to train for an unknown period of time.
When exactly the time skip will kickstart remains to be seen, however, it is only a matter of time before Boruto goes off to train under someone like Sasuke and the others find some ways to improve their already growing strength as well. Timeskips are always fun and this one is now exceptionally close.
