Borderlands 3is set to launch on next-gen consoles with a new batch of DLC, and Gearbox has laid the groundwork for the new update via a major patch. When players download theBorderlands 3update, they may notice a few differences, both in the how their Vault Hunters play and in the game’s Mayhem mode.

The post detailing the patch notes on the immediately begins by announcing support for the game’s upcoming Designer’s Cut DLC pack, which is part ofBorderlands 3’s second season pass. The latest DLC offering brings plenty of new content, from a rogue-like DLC game mode to new skill trees and outfits for every Vault Hunter. TheBorderlands 3Designer’s Cut will be arriving tomorrow, November 10, with the Director’s Cut coming in 2021.

While players likely can’t wait to jump into the new DLC and dress up asmultiverse versions ofBorderlands 3’s Vault Hunters, it is worth noting that the patch does quite a bit more than prepare for the extra content. For instance, anointments have been adjusted to stop Amara’s “fakegrasping” and FL4K’s Gamma Bursting while looking at the sky. This change should ensure “no Vault Hunter has an unfair advantage,” and the anointment system has been updated to support the new skill trees.

WhileBorderlands 3’s new skill treesare certainly exciting, Gearbox has made updates to the balancing of the current skill trees as well. Zane, for example, sees a 15% bonus to the Seein’ Red skill and increased gun damage via “Confident Competence” in hopes that more “build diversity” will happen for the Operative. FL4K sees their pets receive damage buffs from the global grenade anointment, while Amara sees unintentional damage stats removed for her Phasegrasp. Moze sees no changes in the update.

The other big change made to the game ahead ofBorderlands 3’s next-gen releasesis for Mayhem Mode, as Gearbox is providing players with a Mayhem 11 difficulty. Rather than making the game harder, however, Mayhem 11 removes the modifiers that some players find annoying. This change allows players to fight high level enemies without effects like “floor is lava,” at the cost of loot quality and drops being cut in half. A major quality of life change for players who want a simpler hard difficulty, this change should be received well by fans.

The rest of the patch notes detail general bug fixes and weapon adjustments, making for a lengthy list of changes and a large patch for players to download. With this update complete, however,Borderlands 3has support in place for next-gen players andthe Designer’s Cut DLC pack.

Borderlands 3is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades coming as the consoles' launch.
