The Binding of Isaaccame out with its most recent DLC not long ago. EntitledRepentance, it brings many new elements to the game, and players are already compiling lists ofneed-to-know data about it.
Repentancehas provided a new shot of life forThe Binding of Isaac, but it’s not like the game has been floundering for popularity. Created by the same indie developer who brought the worldSuper Meat Boy,Bindinghas enjoyed popularity as a rogue-like for ten years. However, some code seen inRepentancehints at a new addition to gameplay that could make the game more popular than ever.

Out of all thesecrets inThe Binding of Isaac: Repentancethat players haven’t found yet, few would have guessed that the biggest would be discovered by the modding community. Modders tinkering with the new DLC discovered code that allows players to launch a co-op session, playing with someone else online. As of this article, there is no official announcement of co-op inThe Binding of Isaac: Repentance, and indeed, the function seems to be in the testing stage. However, unless an announcement is made stating co-op was attempted and then scrapped, it seems safe to assume an announcement about it will be released in the near future.
In its current state,The Binding of Isaac: Repentance’s co-op mode is buggy and has synchronization troubles. As such, it is hardly fit for regular play under most circumstances. There are other ways players can play co-op of course, including Parsec. However, an official co-op mode could lead to gameplay elements directly worked into it, perhaps new co-op trinkets. WithRepentanceleading to a player spike on Steam, there’s no better time for players to begin playing together and experiencing the game in a new way.
Beyond co-op,Repentancehas brought other changes toThe Binding of Isaac. New trinkets and a new route of progress are included, as are new bosses and a brand new ending. Of course, followingBinding of Isaactradition, much of this is shrouded in mystery.
With co-op fully implemented,The Binding of Isaaccould find an entirely new fan base. Watching prominent personalities in the gaming scene streaming games together has become a favorite pastime for many, and with co-op,The Binding of Isaaccould break onto this scene. Players may soon be watching streamers beat thenew bosses ofRepentancetogether, no doubt with hilarious moments aplenty.
The Binding of Isaacis available on Mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
