Although Bethesda RPG fans had been hoping that the company might show off something big this year, VP of Marketing Pete Hines has repeatedly told them that won’t be the case. Everyone knows thatStarfieldis coming, butwhen exactly the game might release, or even when people might see gameplay, is still a ways off.

That hasn’t stopped fans/media from asking Hines aboutStarfieldat every opportunity whether it be on Twitter or during Bethesda’s Gamescom livestream this week. Once again, Hines couldn’t get through an event without having to talk aboutStarfield, but this time he offered a few intriguing details that should have Bethesda RPG fans excited. On the German Bethesda stream, a host tried to guess at the setting and setup for Starfield, but Hines kept his poker face on the whole time.

Hines acknowledged the continuous questions aboutStarfieldand even admitted that his life as Senior VP of Global Marketing for Bethesda would be easier if the developer had something to show. But as is typically the case with Bethesda games, the studio only shows off a game when it is relatively close to launch. It’s a formula that has worked in Bethesda’s favor -Fallout 4was revealedwithin six months of release - especially when compared to announcements for games that don’t release for years.

Even though Bethesda might not be giving fans a look atStarfieldanytime soon, the suggestion that it will be worth the wait is sure to be exciting. Moreover, for a studio that is known for impressive games to top itself should catch gamers' attention, assuming that the studio can deliver. What might be seen as impressive to the Bethesda team might not be viewed in the same light by gamers depending on what has released previously or the execution.

Of course, as the VP of Marketing, it isHines' job to promote Bethesda products, but he’s also been in the industry long enough to know what is and isn’t going to appeal to the fans. He is both the “hype man” for Bethesda but also a fan of games himself.

At this point, all gamers really know aboutStarfieldis that it is the next big RPG from Bethesda Game Studios. Presumably,Todd Howard is leadingthe project, as he was the one who announced it back at E3 2018, but there is no guarantee.

And whileStarfieldmay impress gamers and be their next Bethesda obsession, many fans have their sights set further in the future. AfterStarfield, Bethesda is going to finally deliver thenext entry in theElder Scrollsseries.
