When people think ofNintendo, they immediately recall popular characters like Link, Mario, or Pikachu. The more avidNintendofans may rememberlesser-known villains like Bonetail or Rawk Hawk. And even fewer fans may recall female Nintendo characters, especially those with a royal lineage (aside from Princess Peach).

But, the truth is that Nintendo has over 20 princesses across various franchises. While some of these princesses played a minor role in their respective games, some accomplished outstanding acts of courage. With that being said, this Nintendo Princess tier list will rank some of them based on their accomplishments.
6Princess Melia Antiqua - Xenoblade Chronicles
Melia Antiqua is a playable character from theXenoblade Chroniclesgame series. She first appeared inXenoblade Chronicles(2010) for one ofNintendo’s longest-lasting consoles, the Wii. Melia Antiqua underwent several trials before being crowned Princess of High Entia, from seeing her father perish by enemy hands to an assassination. And while she eventually earned that right to be the Queen of High Entia, she managed to be an exceptional princess.
Melia possesses elemental prowess that can buff the entire team significantly. For example, her Summon Flare skill allows her to boost the team’s Strength while her Summon Aqua heals the team. Furthermore, she deeply cares for her kingdom, even if that means putting herself in harm’s way (like she has many times). So, while Melia Antiqua isn’t a well-known princess, her hardships and powers earn her a spot in this tier list.
5Princess Kumatora - Earthbound (Mother)
Despite having a successful run in Japan,Earthbound(known asMotherin Japan)sold poorly in the North American market, so much so that Nintendo declared it a failure. But, over the years,Earthboundhas gained popularity becauseSuper Smash Brosincluded the protagonist, Ness. Kumatora is another prominent character in this series, and she’s the princess of Osohe Castle.

InEarthbound 3(Mother 3), Kumatora helps Lucas throughout their adventure. She’s quite different from other Nintendo Princesses since she has a more “tomboy” attitude and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Additionally, Kumatora possesses two of the strongest moves in theEarthboundseries, PK Ground and PK Starstorm. So, while Ness is a powerful Psi wielder, Kumatora has demonstrated that she has what it takes to be the Psi Princess of Osohe Castle.
4Princess Mipha - The Legend Of Zelda: BoTW
Despite being shy and introverted, Mipha is one of the most powerful characters inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, especially considering she is one of the Champions of Hyrule. But she doesn’t become thisiconic Nintendo heroineovernight since players can see her transition from a quiet princess to an assertive warrior while playingBoTW.
ThroughoutBreath of the Wild, Mipha is kindhearted toward everyone, often healing enemies out of kindness. Mipha also cares deeply for Link, despite knowing he cares for Princess Zelda, and she’ll never be able to be with him romantically. And even until the end, Mipha displayed courage while fighting Waterblight Ganon, which is why she more than deserves a spot as one of the best Nintendo Princesses.
3Princess Shokora - Wario Land
Wario started as the main antagonist of Mario but quickly became a fan favorite, despite being the exact opposite of Mario. That’s why he’s starred in several spin-offs, including theWario Landseries andMario Strikers: Battle League,where he plays peculiarly. But, despite his general obnoxious personality, Princess Shokora (part of theWario Landseries) still treats him kindly and even offers to help him steal her treasure.

Furthermore, throughout the entire adventure, Princess Shokora provides Wario with items that help him defeat the army of undead creatures. This lesser-known Nintendo Princess shows kindness to those lesser (and ruder) than her, which in itself merits her a spot in this ranked list.
2Princess Zelda - The Legend Of Zelda Series
Undoubtedly, Princess Zelda is the strongest being in Hyrule, surpassing the power of that of Ganondorf, Vaati, and Zant. And that’s because she possesses the power of the Triforce of Wisdom (grants her vast wisdom), among other holy objects. Furthermore,one of the goddesses of Hyrulechose Princess Zelda to carry this divine relic, which already speaks to her character.
And while Princess Zelda has visually changed throughout the game series, her personality hasn’t. One of her most notable features is her loyalty to the kingdom of Hyrule and her willingness to sacrifice herself for the good of the people. On top of that, Princess Zelda is one of the few Sheikah warriors left, making her a force to be reckoned with.
1Princess Peach - Super Mario Bro. Series
It’s no surprise that Princess Peach is among the best princesses in Nintendo (despite her many dark moments). And while her position of power often gets her into trouble, she continues to reign the Mushroom Kingdom through it all. Above all, Princess Peach has always been displayed as kind, polite, and respectful toward all her subjects, including her enemies.
Nintendo fans can also get a better glimpse of her personality by watching “The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!,” where she also shows off her combat capability. On top of that, Princess Peach has appeared in more video games than any other female character, making her an absolute superstar of a princess.
