Deepstone Oil is made from the Albino Cavefish, which is found in the underwater reaches of Deepholm, so visit the Fishing trainer on the way to the Alchemist. It’s an important ingredient in several other recipes besides this one.
6Ghost Elixir
Handy For Priests, Warlocks, And Other Spellcasters
The recipe for Ghost Elixir is one the first that most new Illustrious Grand Master Alchemists learn, and it’s an ideal choice to start the grind. Spirit is the stat that regenerates mana, which means any casting class can use it, and it only requires a single ingredient.
Cinderbloom is a common ingredient in several Alchemy recipes, and Herbalists can acquire it in places like Mount Hyjal and some places in the Twilight Highlands. It’s one of the cheaper materials to buy if one’s character isn’t a Herbalist or just doesn’t feel like farming.
5Deathblood Venom
Primarily For Melee Fighters
A potion that most Alchemists seeas a mere leveling tool, mainly because it only requires a single ingredient and is one of the earliest recipes new Illustrious Grand Masters learn. Stormvine is available in several locations and isn’t expensive if players want to purchase it, so this is partly true.
On the other hand, this is a very useful potion for any character who wants an edge in melee combat. For tanks that want some extra offensive powers against multiple enemies, this potion can mean the difference between life and death.
4Volcanic Potion
Ideal For Any Class That Uses The Intellect Stat
Warlocks and Mages are the primary beneficiaries of the Volcanic Potion’s benefits, so even if the Alchemist making these can’t use them they’re still a valuable trade item. It’s a niche market that appeals mostly to raiders, so drop a few in the guild bank just for the social credit.
Other reasons to start with this potion include that it only requires two herbs and a fairly low skill level. After making a few Ghost Elixirs to grind up the skill, the Alchemist can move on to the Volcanic Potion with some of the leftover Cinderbloom.
3Potion Of Illusion
Just For The Fun Of It
It’s not the easiest potion to make, with the ingredients being a mix of rare herbs and volatile elements, but it’s hard to resist another magical potion even if it doesn’t grant any combat benefits. All this potion does is turn the player’s ‘tooninto another Azerothian racefor two minutes, and that can include those of the opposite faction.
Volatile Life is one of the easier elemental ingredients to find, especially for Miners and Herbalists, because it drops from their farming nodes. Another option is to purchase it, and it’s by far the most inexpensive of all the new volatile elements.
2Elixir Of The Deep Earth
It sounds like something a player would learn in Deepholm, but it’s easily learned from an Alchemy trainer. It’s ideal for tanks and melee fighters that bear the brunt of physical damage, but casters can use it too, and healers can always use some extra armor.
The Elixir of the Deep Earth is a common addition to most leveling guides. It only requires one ingredient to make, other than the usual Crystal Vial, and if the Alchemist can’t use it themselves, it’s worth something at the Auction House.

File this under the category for Rare Mounts as well, and it’s interesting how an Alchemy recipe became an essential component inone of the game’s most difficultmounts to find. Deepstone Oil by itself is one of those quirky potions that have a random effect, similar to the Noggenfogger Elixir, but it’s also used to make the Epic-quality recipe, Vial Of the Sands.
The Vial Of the Sands doesn’t just summon a mount, it turns the player into a mount. Specifically, it turns the player into a flying dragon that can carry another player with them. No other mount in the game is like this, and the recipe is an extremely rare find connected to the Archeology profession.
