Hell has been unleashed in Chasing Carrots' latest indie hitHalls Of Torment. The game pays homage to RPGs of the nineties with its retro-style aesthetic as players desperately try to survive the endless waves of undead nightmares. With a choice of different characters and a whole range of abilities and items, there are a number of halls that players can dare to challenge in a bid to outlast the 30-minute timer.

One of the key aspects ofHalls Of Tormentis the various items that can be unlocked and equipped for the playable character, each with its own unique perks to help players gain an advantage over their foes. Of these items are the various types of footwear that players can use to boost particular facets of their attack, defense, or even movement. There are eight different shoes to choose from, but which will give players their best fighting chance to survive hell?
8Plated Boots
One of the cheaper and more basic types of footwear inHalls Of Torment, the Plated Boots are an ideal starting point for new players and offer a mild improvement in their defensive rating. While there are no special perks associated with these simple boots, it is certainly a better alternative to being barefoot in the fiery depths of the underworld.
The Plated Boots offer a modest improvement of three points to a character’s defensive rating, which will offer a moderate amountmore protection from enemy attacks. While this may not be much, the boots require no prerequisite challenges or great beasts to be slain in order to use them.

7Runner Shoes
Another simple design for a shoe with only a moderate improvement, the Runner Shoes are fairly self-explanatory - they benefit the runners. With these shoes equipped, players are able to move around the map faster and keep themselves a safe, or at least less dangerous, distance from their foes.
The Runner Shoes are the other default footwear that is easily made available from the start of the game. They provide a15% boost in player movement speed, which is an excellent starting point in any of the Halls in the game.

6Pace Setter
The most important statistic players need to be wary of inHalls Of Tormentis their health bar, as it can very quickly be drained when caught in a tricky situation and will result in the run being ended once depleted. With the Pace Setter footwear, players will havean additional source of rejuvenation.

The Pace Setter boots best suit characters who dig their heels into the dirt and rely on the strength of their weapon and the speed of their attacking distribution. For each second that a player stands still, they will be rewarded with an additional health point. While this is a great perk, it is best used sparingly, as standing still in any of the Halls is a risky endeavor at the best of times.
5Spike Boots
Like knocking coins out of an overflowing chest, the Spike Boots offer a painful rebuttal to any attacking movements by the servants of hell. While these boots are equipped, players will drop ten spikeson the ground after they have been hit, which will deal significant damage to any who touch them and will cause a temporary stun state.
These boots are a perfect window of opportunity to turn the tide of the battle in the player’s favor by incapacitating any close-quarters threats. However, there are some minor limitations to this, as they require a four-second cooldown before they can be used again, so players need to make the most of the opportunities they present.

4Septic Boots
Otherwise known as “Bogged Boots”, the Septic Boots are the result of walking through a few too many sticky remnants of the slime monsters inHalls of Torment. These boots are unlocked by completing the Slime Slayer I achievement, which is earned by eradicating 50,000 slime monsters in the Haunted Caverns Hall.
The Septic Boots enable players to leave a trail of green slime wherever they walk, which may not cause too much harm to enemies, but it will slow them down. The puddles are active for ten seconds or until too many feet have walked through them and can buy players precious time to establish space between them and their hunters.

3Elven Slippers
For those who prefer to keep their character moving on their runs inHalls Of Torment, the Elven Slippers are the perfect companion to add further protection from harm as they carefully avoid the oncoming demon assault. They can be unlocked by reaching level 30 as the Archer character, which is ideal as itbest suits the Archer’s evasive strengths.

The Elven Slippers boost player block ratings while they are moving, and continue to do so until they reach the pre-determined cap of ten extra points. However, any enhancements in movement speed will increase the cap to make it even harder for a character’s defenses to be breached. It is worth noting, however, that the perks of these shoes cease to work when the player is stationary.
2Electrostatic Treads
Enemies that come too close to a hero wearing the Electrostatic Treads will be met with a rude shock, as these boots have an electric surprise for any within its range. With this footwear, players are able to charge up the energy within the shoes as they move around the map, which causes an electrical explosion once they are fully charged.
These boots are one of the bestinHalls of Tormentto use as they offer an additional source of offense and protection for players. Given that these are charged by simply moving around, they are particularly handy as they are a passive attack that requires no extra effort from players.

1Firewalker Boots
With these red-hot boots, no creature of the underworld is going to want to be anywhere near you. The Firewalker Boots are one of the best options for footwear inHalls of Tormentand are a must-have for players who opt for an evasive strategy of gameplay.
The Firewalker Boots produce a trail of fire wherever they walk that will burn any enemies that come into contact with it, with the added chance ofcausing burn damage to foes. Combined with the Dragon’s Breath ability, the demons of hell will struggle to escape a fiery demise.
