Electronic Arts held an open beta forBattlefield 2042early last month and it appears that the limited-time testing phase drew tons of players. Although many Battlefield fans felt like the experience included more bugs than normal, Battlefield 2042’s open beta still reached a significant number of players.

EA recently held a quarterly earnings call in which it shared with shareholders several details about its various franchises. According to Axios' Stephen Totilo, EA has officially confirmed just how many players participated inBattlefield 2042’s open beta. TheBattlefield 2042beta reached a total of 7.7 million gamers across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Stephen Totilo was quick to point out thatBattlefield 1also had a successful beta before it was released back in 2016. Totilo stated that EA confirmedBattlefield 1’s beta drew in a total of 13.2 million players, significantly more than thetroubledBattlefield 2042beta. It’s currently unclear whyBattlefield 1drew in more beta testers thanBattlefield 2042, but it may be due to the game’s unique World War 1 setting andBattlefield 2042’s lack ofBattlefield Portalduring the beta.

WhileBattlefieldfans may be impressed with how many players theBattlefield 2042open beta drew, Stephen Totilo confirmed the success of another EA franchise alongside his tweet aboutBattlefield. According to Totilo,Star Wars Galaxy of Heroeshas reached over 100 million players, showing the reach of free mobile games. It’s unknown if EA intends to make more free-to-play mobile titles as a result ofStar Wars Galaxy of Heroesor if it will divert more resources to the team developing the game.

Battlefield 2042releases in a matter of weeks and EA continues to confirm various aspects about the next title in theBattlefieldseries.
