Bandai Namco celebrates the 13th anniversary of its action RPG series,God Eater, with a new illustration and soundtrack releases. For the uninitiated, theGod Eaterseries was penned as arival to Capcom’sMonster Hunterseries. Unlike Capcom’s blockbuster franchise, it explores a post-apocalytpic Earth overrun by a number of monsters, with faster paced combat along with easier-to-grasp mechanics. The series has managed to carve out its own dedicated niche and fanbase.
The firstGod Eatergame released on the PlayStation Portable in 2010. This spawned a series of sequels and spin-off media, including an anime adaptation and light novels. Thelatest release in the series wasGod Eater 3, which released in 2019, right alongside a game that is considered its spiritual successor,Code Vein. In celebration ofGod Eater’s 13th anniversary, Bandai Namco shared some special things for fans to celebrate.

OnBandai Namco’s official Twitter account, it shared a tweet that denoted the series' 13th anniversary. It comes with a special illustration by Koichi Itakura, an artist that has frequently designed equipment and characters for the series. This illustration features the three playable characters throughout theGod Eaterseries playing in the snow. A follow-up tweet showed that Bandai Namco would be posting the soundtracks of the games on various streaming platforms.
These soundtrack releases covers all three mainline games, which includestheGod Eaterremake and its sequel. These were released on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music, free to listen. Dedicated fans of series also celebrated, happy to see that the publisher hasn’t forgotten about the cult classic series. Many were also glad to see the soundtrack of theGod Eatergames also finally getting a digital release.
2019’sGod Eater 3was the last mainline entry in the series, developed by Marvelous First Studio. The original developer, Shift, was busy developingCode Veinin the interim. Instead of aMonster Hunter-esque approach,Code Veinis a Souls-like gamewith an anime aesthetic that makes itself stand out in comparison to others on the market. Much likeGod Eater,Code Veinhas its own dedicated fanbase as well, with some hoping it will get a follow-up.
