Reddit user spudzzy recently shared an image of their inspiredBaldur’s Gate 3Gnome character, which is modeled after Kratos fromGod of War. Named “Kratome,” this pint-sized warrior carries the Ghost of Sparta’s distinctive ash-white completion and red markings, in addition to the simple leather garb, full beard, and hefty battle axe he sported in his later Norse adventures. The only major differences between Kratome and his inspiration are his size and pointy elf-like ears.
The original Kratos was created as themain protagonist of theGod of Warseriesway back in 2005 and would become a flagship character for the PlayStation brand in the years since. He began his journey as an angry, vengeful figure out to avenge his slain family by destroying the Gods of Mount Olympus in the originalGod of Wartrilogy, but would later mellow out and seek a much more enlightened path alongside his son Atreus. This journey reached its apex in last year’sGod of War Ragnarok, which launched on the PlayStation 5 to massive praise and multiple gaming awards.
It’s not yet clear whenKratos will return in a newGod of Wargame, but it looks like at least one player has brought the Ghost of Sparta to life inBaldur’s Gate 3, at least in Gnome form. Since the genuine article is known for towering over mortal and deity alike in theGod of Wargames, seeing Kratos reimagined as a smaller but no less fierce Gnome is a fun novelty, as well as a testament to the varied and in-depth character customization suite thatBaldur’s Gate 3grants its players.
Baldur’s Gate 3is out now on PC and will come out on September 6 for PS5. An Xbox version is in development.
