Baldur’s Gate 3has a wide variety of items available to collect throughout your journey, many of which can enhance character builds consisting of specific Classes, Races, or Feats.
Among these items is theCirclet of Hunting, aheadwear itemthat can greatly enhance certain builds - Rangers in particular. As this item can greatly improve the core elements of a Ranger build, picking it up is a worthwhile investment that will last you a great duration of your playthrough, if not the entire story.

How to Get Circlet of Hunting in Baldur’s Gate 3
Luckily, the Circlet of Healing can be obtained not long after reachingAct 2. Of course, this means that you will need to complete all necessary quests and activities throughoutAct 1before focusing on acquiring this item, including areas such as theMountain Pass and Underdark.
Once you have arrived in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, you will need to find your way to Moonrise Towers. The easiest way to do this is to acquire theSpider’s Lyreand use it to summon Kar’niss to guide you through the Shadow Curse with his Moonlantern. The Spider’s Lyre can be obtained either by killing Nightwarden Minthara within Shattered Sanctum at the Goblin Camp or True Soul Nere at Grymforge, which can be accessed via a boat in the Underdark. After acquiring this item, you’ll need to make your way into the Shadow-Cursed Lands and find Kansif’s party, who will give you the option to play a tune and summon the Drider Kar’niss.

After arriving at Moonrise Towers, you will need to locate a mysterious Drow merchant namedAraj Oblodra. She can be found in the hall by taking the left door from the main room in which you had your first encounter with Ketheric Thorm. In case you need some extra help in finding the exact location of Araj, a map screenshot has been included below for you to reference and follow.
Upon speaking to Araj, she will make an offer to gift you a unique potion in exchange for some of your blood. However, you don’t need to engage in this conversation to receive the Circlet of Hunting. Instead, simply ask to see her wares, and you will be able to purchase them from her directly. You could also attempt to find a way to steal it from her, but theft in Moonrise Towers is particularly difficult to achieve no matter how high your DEX is, as there are so many prying eyes around to see, making using the Hide Action and staying hidden even trickier than usual.

Circlet of Hunting Skills & How to Get the Most Value
Circlet of Hunting Skills and Buffs
Due to the Hunter’s Eye bonus, technically, the Circlet of Hunting could potentially enhance the abilities of any character who has one of these Spells. However, this item is best suited to a Ranger if possible, as certain Ranger builds have the potential to include up to three of the four abilities that Hunter’s Eye synergizes with.
The best Ranger characteristics to maximize potential with this item are:

Essentially, you should prioritize utilizing Hunter’s Eye with Hunter’s Mark as much as possible, as Hunter’s Mark already does +1d6 on each attack you hit against the marked target. This means that with the addition from Hunter’s Eye, you will have +1d4 to hit and then +1d6 to damage. This can be even further enhanced through the Sharpshooter Feat and maximum Dexterity score (20). By taking Sharpshooter, you’ll be taking a -5 to each Attack Roll in exchange for +10 damage on a hit.
However, with the other mechanics in play from Hunter’s Mark and Hunter’s Eye, this will transition into -1 to hit and a +16 to damage with perfect rolls, which is a massive difference. This has some very devastating potential when it comes to damage output per turn.
Lastly, by opting for a Multiclass build, such as Gloomstalker Assassin or Gloomstalker Thief, you’re able to also bring even further damage with Sneak Attack and grant yourself an advantage through Bonus Cunning Action Hide. Lastly, Gloomstalkers gain an extra free attack on the opening round, meaning you can get some serious damage in. As just one of many examples, here is how a Gloomstalker Thief build could operate in just turn 1 of combat:
As usually only 4 levels of Rogue are needed at maximum for aMulticlass buildsuch as this, it can be estimated that while Hunter’s Mark is active, you can deal up to over 80 extra damage per turn (with perfect rolls) on top of the base damage that you roll for each attack. This is a huge chunk that can turn your character into a deadly offensive beast, taking down multiple enemies per turn or even massive chunks of HP from boss encounters within a single turn.
This further indicates just how powerful certain items can be inBaldur’s Gate 3when paired with the right abilities, Feats, Classes, and Races to create synergy, and reinforces the idea that pretty much every item in the game can have some sort of value or serve a purpose with the correct skill choices surrounding it.
