In this latestPortal-like puzzler, the operating systems inBackfirewallmay not be having the best of luck, but players can try to earn some luck themselves by collecting Fortune Cookies scattered throughout the game, with emphasis on “try”. There are 14 Fortune Cookies in total to collect. Due to the game not having a chapter select option available, all 14 must be picked up in one playthrough. A few of the Cookies will be along the main path and some will require a little bit of adventuring to get to, but all of them are missable. To ensure a second playthrough isn’t required for the Cookies, use the guide below to collect them all.

Tutorial

Right after the first upgrade is stopped, OS9 will create a door to leave the room through. Go through it and follow the ledge around to the Bin. The Fortune Cookie will be in the middle of the main path. ([L3] Forrest [L3] as life is too short corridors that are too long)

The Sewers

At the start of this level, there will be a Security Bot patrolling the path needed to progress with the story. When the Security Bot goes left, look to the right to find some boxes stacked in the corner. There is a User Message in front of these boxes and deleting the boxes will reveal the Fortune Cookie. (Being obsolete is an incurable disease. you’re able to only accept it)

RAM

While playing through RAM, players can interact with switches that will alter the room in both appearance and lighting. Interact with these switches until the lights in the room turn blue. Look up on the ceiling and the Fortune Cookie will be floating on it. Use the Inverter to bring it down. (You must be the change you wish to see in the System)

While progressing through the corridor between RAM and the GPU Art Gallery, players will need to interact with a crowbar to roll a large boulder down a ramp. At the bottom of the ramp will be a small room on the right. On the back wall of this room is the word “AGREED” written over and over again. Go up to this wall and look up to find the Fortune Cookie. (Live as if you were to die today++)

At the very start of the game, there will be an outline of some red stairs that need to be “fixed” to progress forward. Before fixing the color, collect the Fortune Cookie which is in the middle of where the stairs should be. (Roses are FF0000, violets are 0000FF, I’m fully optimized, and so are you)

Area 64

After completing the GPU Art Gallery, the corridor players traverse through next will be Area 64. As soon as the section starts, players will be in a bathroom with a Security Guard patrolling the door. Delete the stall doors and in the stall 2nd from the left will be the Fortune Cookie. (Nothing is as fearful as Diagnostic Reports)

Battery’s Lab

At the end of this section when Unzipper is helping to find the exit (in the large battery-acid-filled room), take the cable car over and then the lift down to repair the wire needed to restore power. Just across from the wire will be the Fortune Cookie. (Shift’s about to get real)

Bit Sensor Corridor

At the end of this section, use the lift to reach the circular room filled with boxes. Delete the boxes on the left side of the room to reveal the Fortune Cookie. (Believe in yourself. We sure won’t do it for you)

WiFi

After accessing the large room with the bit-block pit in the center, go inside the pit and look under the small ledge to find the Fortune Cookie. Make sure to get this before filling up the pit. (If you haven’t Googled any solutions, you’re one of the real ones)

The User Show / Camera’s Theatre Part 1

After the scene with Alex plays out, follow the main path forward, and it’ll take you around the balcony in the theatre. Keep following the path and when it turns the corner, the Fortune Cookie will be immediately ahead. (Some like to see how red the flag can get)

Camera’s Theatre Part 2

This Fortune Cookie will be right at the entrance of the theatre, just after a set of double doors. (You screwed up)

After repairing the large lift and climbing up the stairs, jump down into the next room. On the right will be a door that leads to the infinite staircase, but on the left is a blocked doorway. Use the Inverter to remove the debris and inside the small room behind it will be the Fortune Cookie. (There is no fall damage, only landing damage)

The Hideout

After clearing the laser wall inside the Hideout, there will be a console that players can use to access different parts of the system. Change the pathway to “System/Components/workspaces/battery-lab”.When the door opens, the Fortune Cookie will be on the other side. (Error 404: Fortune not found)

Antenna (Part 2)

After completing the XOR/NOR Nightclub (or Speakers), players will eventually find themselves in yet another battery-acid-filled room. At the start of this section, look left to find the Fortune Cookie on a branching path out in the acid. (That was the last Cookie of the game. Congrats)

When all 14 Fortune Cookies have been collected in one run, theGOOD FORTUNEachievement will unlock.
