A new mod forHalo: Reachhas turned Bungie’s classic FPS into a tactical third-person shooter, changing the core gameplay massively. Thanks toThe Master Chief Collectionon PC, gamers can revisit older titles in the series likeHalo: Reachto give them a new lease of life with mods.
Halo: Reachis the last of Bungie’s efforts in the franchise before it moved on toDestiny, and for many, it represents the most refined version of its distinctive formula. There’s certainly an argument to be made that it’s among thebestHalogames of all time, with its impressive story and unique gameplay innovations, the biggest of which was armor abilities inReach. Despite not featuring the titular character, it was released as part ofHalo: The Master Chief Collection, which has allowed players to experience the game all over again, many years after its initial launch.

The cool mod is available on theSteam WorkshopforHalo: The Master Chief Collection, although it only works onReach. Footage of the mod was posted to Reddit by user CrispyEdgePancake, and frankly, it looks awesome. It changes the Firefight mode, one of thebest horde modesout there, so that players now play the game in third-person, controlling a marine instead of a Spartan. This makes players much easier to kill, meaning it plays similarly to a tactical shooter rather than an FPS. Other changes include new weapons, more cover to account for the third-person gameplay, and AI squadmates to assist during combat.
Halo: Reach Third-Person Shooter Mod
As one of the most popular games inHalo: The Master Chief Collection,Reachhas often been the focus of many mods since the game came to PC. It definitely feels like one of the more modern titles in the collection, so it makes sense that it would be a popular choice for modders. OneHalo: Reachmod even combines Spartans with Grunts, which is a scary sight indeed. Not all mods have to be as functional as this one, but it’s still cool to see what players are doing with the game almost 14 years after it first launched.
A little while back, it was revealed thatdevelopment would cease onHalo: The Master Chief Collection, after a decade of frequent new content. It was a fantastic run, especially after how the collection first launched back in 2014. Now, it isn’t clear exactly what the future holds forHalo. 343 Industries continues to bring new additions toHalo Infinite, but news on a new title in the series has been difficult to come by.
