AnApex Legendsplayer posted a video showing their hilarious jump pad trap sending an enemy Mirage to their doom. By placing the jump pad on the edge of a cliff, the innovativeApex Legendsplayer got the drop on their opponent.
The popular battle royaleApex Legendshas grown its roster to a fairly decent size. With therecent new legend Catalyst being added, the game has nineteen unique legends to choose from, with each legend having their own set of abilities, including an ultimate ability that has powerful effects. For example, Octane’s ultimate allows him to deploy a jump pad that anyone can use to launch themselves a good distance into the air. It’s often used offensively, since it allows for squads to quickly ambush an enemy squad or to close the distance in an unexpected manner, even if enemies know where they are.

However, in the video posted to theApex Legendssubreddit by Baba_91000, Octane’s ultimate ability was used defensively. The video begins with Baba_91000 fleeing from an enemy Mirage on a zipline. As they take some enemy fire, they drop off onto a small cliff and sprint around the corner. While waiting for the enemy Mirage to catch up, they quickly deploy their jump pad in front of them. Just as the jump pad finishes deploying, the Mirage comes into view and steps directly on to it, sending them flying away. Baba_91000 then quickly sprints forward and vaults to safety, with the jump pad propelling them to the other side of the chasm. Once they’ve landed, they turn and zoom in on the enemy Mirage falling to their death. WhileOctane has received nerfs in previousApex Legendsseasons, his jump pad is still very useful.
This video is pretty hilarious, and it also shows a very creative way to use Octane’s ultimate ability in a defensive manner. Octane is generally known for being a strong offensive legend, and his high mobility with his stim ability makes him very agile. Because of this, he’s generally seen making aggressive pushes or flanking enemy squads for a quick surprise kill. Despite his heavy offensive bent, Octane has a lot of versatility in his kit, as shown in a clip where anApex Legendsplayer essentially walked on air as Octane.
Of course, the Mirage player might not see their unfortunate death as very funny, but it does seem like one of those moments where players can look back in retrospect and laugh about it. Respawn has mentioned that therecould be major legend reworks coming in Season 16, but hopefully Octane’s jump pad stays intact so that players can keep pulling off fun stunts with it.
Apex Legendsis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
