What is the Apex Legends Perk System?

The perk system inside ofApex LegendsMobile, allows players to essentially unlock tokens to spend on a perk tree for each character. Players can find the perk trees under the Legends tab from the main menu ofApex Legends, though it is worth noting that the feature first needs to be unlocked through playing a handful of matches. Each Legend’s tree contains unlockable perks, finishers, and abilities, as well as cosmetic items to allow players to further customize the look of their character.

Once the Perk system is unlocked, players will earn 1 token through playing and leveling up specific characters. Keep in mind that these tokens can’t be used for any character, as unlocked tokens are linked to the character they’re earned with. Perks also get more expensive the further down the tree players go, though the rewards are arguably better.

How Does it Work?

As players spend tokens and get deeper into each Legend’s specific perk tree, they’ll start unlocking new options including different perks, finishers, and abilities. Perks are essentially passive bonuses similar to what players would find inCall of Dutymultiplayer. Finisher perks give players an additional boost after performing a takedown on a downed enemy, while the Ability perk triggers when the player activates theircharacter’s tactical like Octane’s Stimor Pathfinder’s Grapple.

Keep in mind that characters can only have a select amount equipped at a time, namely 1 finisher, 1 ability, and then 3 perks. However, players can create multiple loadouts to swap between and help make their character feel unique from another player’s version. In addition, some of these perks also have passive abilities, like Bloodhound’s Execution called Loser’s Nourishment which restores all shields and 30 HP after using a finisher on a downed enemy.
