Among Ushit new heights during the early pandemic as one of the best games to bring people together in a time when people couldn’t actually be together. Among discussion of server issues, the incoming roles, and a community spotlight,Among Usdid reveal that the console versions of the game are on track to release by the end of 2021, though later than originally intended.Among Usdeveloper Innersloth has refrained from giving a specific date yet, as the “ideal” release date was revealed to have been in September. It’s October now. Video game development is incredibly difficult, as proven by recently-surfacedevents regardingGod of War: Ragnarok’s delay, and so it’s understandable to try to verify that an announced date sticks.
While it didn’t make its September release, the reason for that is because of the manyupdates coming toAmong Usand ensuring that all of these changes are “up to snuff and compatible across ALL platforms.” In short, the developer wanted to avoid releasing a version for PlayStation and Xbox that was suboptimal, and adding in more platforms complicates the upcoming updates and all that even more.
The update ends with InnerSloth thanking fans for their patience, and at the very least, it does reaffirm thatAmong Usis coming to consoles in 2021. With the prolonged silence on this, it’s likely reassuring for many fans who want to check out the game on their console instead of phone or PC. And, luckily, there’s not much time left in 2021, so fans will likely learn Uson consoles relatively soon.
Among Usis available now on PC, Mobile, and Switch, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
