Summary

The following contains spoilers for Ahsoka Episode 7Star Warswithout cameos from legacy characters is like macaroni without cheese. Sure, it’s still delicious. But it’ll always feel like something is missing.Ahsokaon Disney Plus clearly doesn’t have that problem, and it just added some particularly well-aged cheddar to its mix.

Ahsokaepisode 7 saw plenty of reasons for fans to emit a squee or two. For one, it featured a long-awaitedreturn to action for Ezra Bridgerafter disappearing at the end ofStar Wars Rebels5 years ago. Played byKing Richard’s Eman Esfandi, Ezra finally got his chance to fight some stormtroopers again, now showing off his new Force-centric combat style alongside his old friend Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). But far off from this distant galaxy, another big moment took place that caught many fans off-guard, despite basically being an inevitability at this point.

The episode also featured a surprise cameo fromnone other than the beloved C-3PO, the always-panicking protocol droid. As always, the character was played by Anthony Daniels, who has voiced C-3PO since the first line ofStar Warsin 1977’sA New Hope. But as pointed out byThe Direct, this appearance inAhsokahas now officially set a new record for Daniels and the droid. As of this cameo, Daniels has now appeared as the character 12 times in live-action, more than any otherStar Warsactor.

This is a pretty big deal considering how fondStar Warsis of special appearances, and that’s not to mention all thecelebrity cameos in theStar Warssequel trilogy. Nearly every actor from the originalStar Warstrilogy has reprised their role to some extent in the decades since the movies originally debuted. But despite mostly being relegated to the role of comic relief in many cases, C-3PO has managed to crash the party in every mainlineStar Warsfilm and a good chunk of the spinoffs. Not too shabby for someone who likely would have prevented the entire story from happening if he’d had his way from the start.

In this latest appearance, C-3PO showed up by order of the off-screen Senator Leia Organa to offer aid to General Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who was facing a potential court martial after disobeying orders to help Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson). Despite that last sentence likely coming across as meaningless word salad tomostStar Warsnewcomers, it’s a pretty significant scene. Ahsoka and Sabine have finally made it to the far-off galaxy where Ezra disappeared to, and that wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Hera and her fellow pilots.

With only one episode left in the season, and seemingly so much more story to tell, it’s feeling more and more likely that there will eventually be moreAhsokaafter this batch of episodes concludes. With more episodes comes more chances for cameos, and who better to make another appearance than a certain stuffy gold dude?

Ahsokawill release its season finale on Disney Plus on June 13, 2025.
