There are a lot of great sci-fi related games on the way in 2020. Unfortunately, it is going to take a while to see them, with March being the first big month that comes to mind. In the meantime, there are plenty of related and unrelated genre titles to keep one satisfied, or at least occupy us likeDragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

For this list, we looked at ten of the biggest games in this category. Five of them we know are going to be surefire hits, while the other half we aren’t so sure about for one reason or another. Hopefully, we are wrong. Who knows? Maybe this list should be flipped.

top rated games of 2020

10Excited: Doom Eternal

Doom Eternalis set to release on March 20 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It was originally due out last November, but id Software got a few extra months to work out the kinks. If it plays as good as it looks, we’re in for a fun ride through a war-torn Earth plagued with demons. We are ready to get bloody.

9Worried: Predator: Hunting Grounds

Predator: Hunting Groundsis set to release on April 24 for PC and PS4. For those that missed the boat, this is a multiplayer-focused game where a group of soldiers are on the hunt for the Predator, who is in the hands of an opposing player. Sounds good in principle, but games like this, time and time again, rarely get the player base they need to survive.Evolveis a somewhat recent example that comes to mind. Plus, it is based on a tired license, so all signs point to misery.

8Excited: Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

The Resident Evil 3 remake is set to release on April 3 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We can hardly believe the remake forResident Evil 2happened, and was good, and now we’re getting treated to this game just over a year later.

Capcom is hitting it out of the park! Mr. X’s AI in the remake was already tense, but cranking it up to the level of Nemesis is going to be a whole new playing field. We are ready to crap ourselves silly when this comes out.

7Worried: Half-Life: Alyx

So far there is not a definite date forHalf-Life: Alyx, but Valve has said March of this year. This is the firstHalf-Liferelated game since the second episode ofHalf-Life 2left off on a cliffhanger in 2007. So not only is this game not going to answer any of those questions as it is a prequel, but it will be VR only, thus alienating a lot of hungry fans. This is sketchy, to say the least.

6Excited: Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077is set to release on April 16 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Well, that was the plan, but now it got pushed to September. Pushing that aside,The Witcher 3blew us out of the park, so who’s to say this game won’t either?

The only downside is that first-person narrative, which isn’t really a deal-breaker. We samurai are ready to wake up and smell the Keanu.

5Worried: Marvel’s Avengers

Speaking ofCyberpunk, this Square Enix title also got delayed.Marvel’s Avengerswas set to release on May 15 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, but likeCyberpunk 2077, it too is now coming in September. Looks like they weren’t as ready as they originally thought. Based on what they showed at E3 last year, well, we were already worried. TheDestinyformula just doesn’t seem to fit this Marvel universe. We want better games in this franchise so hopefully our skepticism is proven wrong.

4Excited: Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs: Legionwas supposed to come out on March 2 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, but it has been delayed since its initial E3 2019 debut. There is no new date other than 2020. That rumored Vikings-basedAssassin’s Creedis probably coming in October or November, so maybe this will be a late summer game in August or September. Whenever it comes out, even if it misses 2020, we are ready to fight everyone as old ladies.

3Worried: Gears Tactics

Gears Tacticsis set to release on April 28 for PC and Xbox One and yes, it will be on Game Pass. So for members, there is no excuse to not try this out. We would love to see more games try out theX-COMformula, and honestly we think theGearsfranchise is perfect for this. That is in theory, but based on what’s been shown so far, well, it looks pretty generic.

2Excited: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers

Persona 5Scrambleis set to release on February 20 for PS4 and Switch in Japan. No date has been announced yet for the West, but it is likely to hit this year too.

This is not the enhanced re-release ofPersona 5, but is instead a spin-off ofDynasty Warriors. Yes, it is a mindless action RPG in the same vein, which turns off a lot of people, but we love them. Well, most of them, andPersona 5seems like a crazy, but cool fit.

1Worried: Godfall

Godfallis the firstPS5game shown as of the Game Awards last year. It is due at launch so this, along with the PS5, should be out this fall. Another looter RPG sounds interesting, especially since it is not specifically a shooter, but let us remember this. Most exclusive software for console launches are bad. We have been burned way too many times.KnackandKillzone Shadowfall, as PS4 examples, weren’t awful, but they weren’t great either. In the system’s vast library, they don’t even make the top 100.
