As revealed at the latest Nintendo Direct, fourResident Evilgames are coming to the Nintendo Switch via the cloud this year. The first game on this list isResident Evil Village, andit will release on October 28, just a few days before Halloween.TheWinters' ExpansionDLC forResident Evil Village, which contains more story content and a new third-person mode, launches on December 2. Furthermore, a demo forResident Evil Villageis available now to Switch owners.
The video also confirms that the cloud versions ofResident Evil 7: Biohazard,Resident Evil 2, andResident Evil 3are coming to the Switch this year. However, none of these games have a set release date, so fans can expect them to launch sometime afterResident Evil Village. The trailer also gives fans a glimpse of how the cloud versions of the games look when playing on the Switch.
As all fourResident Evilgames are cloud versions, they will only be available to users who are located in supported regions. Fans in these areas can also play relatively newer releases likeDying Light 2,Hitman 3, andMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyon their Switch via the cloud, although the full selection is fairly limited.
Some console games have been ported to the Switch and released as native versions. In these cases, the development team makes a specific version that canbest utilize the Switch hardwareand port it accordingly. While sacrifices are made in terms of the visual quality, it’s still surprising to see titles likeDoom Eternalbeing available on the Switch. However, not all publishers go for that option, leaving a cloud version the only other way to play these games on the Switch. Still, it’s probably better than not getting any version of these games on Nintendo’s console.
Resident Evil Villageis scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch on October 28, withResident Evil 7: Biohazard,Resident Evil 2, andResident Evil 3coming this year.
